Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This marks his maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.
Success also means the Russian has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various events.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, including in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.
But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors traded break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.
The opponent defended 4 initial break points in a tight final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
