Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland woke up experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems swept through the state, bringing strong winds reaching over 100 km/h.

Large Ice Stones and Widespread Destruction

Residents reported giant hailstones measuring up to seven centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were working to restore electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams deployed to address the numerous electricity disruptions.

Victoria's Weather Woes

Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 households in the southern state also encountered energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.

Emergency response teams handled over five hundred calls for help across the region, primarily for property damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

At one point on Sunday, over 28,000 energy customers in the state were lacking electricity.

Meteorological Predictions

Moist weather were predicted to continue along large portions of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.

Tuesday was predicted as the wettest day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential predicted across different parts of both areas.

Medical Alert

Health officials warned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
